5 Months Old!

Sweet Girl,

5 Months Old!

Today marks 5 months!  It is absolutely amazing how much you have grown and learned in only 5 months!  You are becoming so independent, which makes me so proud and sad at the same time!  You are becoming so strong.  You are sitting up so good now.  You are able to catch yourself from falling back, but still a little wobbly.  You have the strongest little legs, too.  You can take little steps when we hold your hands and would rather stand up to play than sit sometimes.  You get so tickled and laugh so hard now.  You have the greatest little laugh and a glowing smile that I look forward to everyday.

Your Daddy and I had so much fun making you laugh last night.  You had the hiccups and would laugh at me as I jumped in the air and hiccuped with you while Daddy held you.  That was a priceless moment with you!

Tonight as it came time for bed, you decided to put yourself to sleep.  You wanted nothing to do with being rocked to sleep, which broke our hearts!  We laid you down with your teddy blanket and you sucked your thumb until you fell asleep.  The first night that we didn't rock you to sleep... hopefully it won't last, because I love putting you to bed at night.

I can't wait to see your smiling, happy face in the morning.  I adore you!

Snuggling with your Teddy Blanket

Sweet Avery,

When I came in your room to check on you this morning, you were snuggled up with your teddy blanket!  It was the sweetest sight seeing you sleep so peacefully.  For the third morning in a row you were sleeping on your side!  You wiggle and move so much in your sleep now and always end up in a completely different spot from where you started.

Today we went to Aunt Lindsey, Uncle Jeremy and cousin Adeline's house.  Your Grammy and Graddaddy were there too!  It was a beautiful day outside and Granddaddy took you out to swing for the first time.  Everyone was so excited to watch you swing, but you were not as impressed as we were.  Your main focus was being able to knaw on the swing! lol  These days, you absolutely love to chew on anything that you get your hands on.  I just know that you have some teeth trying to make their way through!  Despite your ear infection, you are still such a happy little girl!  You took a long nap in Adeline's crib today like a big girl.  Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you for taking naps in the crib now.

Just a swinging

Adeline had to go to the doctor today, so you two didn't have the chance to play, but thankfully she is ok and was able to go back home.  Hopefully we will get to visit again soon and play.

I can't wait for our Sunday, tomorrow.  More play time with you!

First taste of cereal and much more

Sweet Girl,

This past week has flown by so fast and I have so many things to catch you up on!  Last Wednesday, 2/23, as Daddy read to you, your bedtime story, Heaven is Having You, you sat in his lap and read right along with him as though you knew every word.  You touched every page and were truly interested in that book.  We love reading to you, but sometimes you get so sleepy that we don't get a story in before you fall right to sleep.

We had a great weekend!  Saturday we stayed at home and played all day.  On Sunday, you rode in your carrier on Daddy's chest as we walked to Menchie's for some frozen yogurt.  You squealed at everything you saw as we started out.  Your little squeals make us laugh every time!  As we stood at the stoplight, waiting to cross the street, you would follow the cars passing by one by one, with your little head going left to right, left to right until Mommy and Daddy burst into laughter and disrupted your concentration.  That evening we had company!  Grandpaw, MiMi, Aunt Tabby, Bailey and your new baby cousin, Karla all came to visit.  Everyone was so surprised at how big you are!  When you saw Karla, you reached out and tried to grab her hand; so sweet!  You and Karla are only four months apart and I just know you two will be best buddies, with cousin Bailey to lead the two of you around.
Cousin Karla at 2 weeks

Sunday was also a special day, because you tried rice cereal for the first time!  We sat you in your boppy chair and you reached out for the cereal anxious to get your hands on it.  As I gave you your first taste, your once excited, inquisitive face quickly turned to a snarl in disgust.  You did not like the cereal one bit, but we continued giving you bites hoping you would change your mind.  When I gave you the spoon to try it yourself, you would not even put it in your mouth; you would just make the most disgusted face.  Needless to say, Mommy and Daddy were tickled by your reaction.  Even Daddy tried to feed you, but still, disgust.

Tonight, you tried cereal once again, but still not impressed.  I promise once you begin to love the cereal, you will be well on your way to eating the good stuff!  Until then, we will continue to enjoy the funny faces you make!

Your very first taste!

Take two and still not liking it!

Hugs and Kisses.  Sleep Tight...
